The Drummond Fellowship

The 2025-26 Drummond Family Silver Fellowship

As part of the Nimrod Education Center’s mission to promote hunting and fishing at Hillsdale and throughout the country, students are invited to apply for the Drummond Family Silver Fellowship.  This competitive one-year fellowship is open to undergraduate students of all majors who have experience with, or a significant interest in, hunting and fishing. Selected through a competitive application process, Fellows will assist with on-campus Nimrod Education Center events, such as the Center’s Speaker Series, and have the opportunity to attend off-campus events, which may include educational hunting and fishing excursions with friends of Hillsdale College. Fellows will receive a scholarship for their involvement, made possible by the generosity of the Drummond Family.

This fellowship comes with the following responsibilities:

  • Be a certified hunter and fisherman, holding valid hunting and angling licenses in any state
  • Enroll and complete two of the following Nimrod-sponsored courses during the student’s course of study: Introduction to Shooting Sports (SSD-140), Introduction to Archery (SSD-148), Basic Shotgun (SSD-141), or Wildlife Law & Policy (IDS)
  • Attend and assist with all on-campus Nimrod Education Center events
  • Commitment to personal flexibility as the fellowship develops from semester to semester and to prioritize off-campus Nimrod Education Center events as able

 Application Form

This fellowship comes with the following responsibilities:

  • A two-part resume – part one should highlight your relevant work, education, and skills, as found in a standard professional resume; part two should list and explain your personal experience with hunting, fishing, outdoors, and conservation. Please be detailed.
  • A one-page response to an assigned topic
  • A short letter of recommendation from a Hillsdale faculty member
